Whispered interpreting (chuchotage)
Whispered interpretation can be defined as simultaneous interpretation that is whispered directly into the ear of the participant(s) without sitting in a booth and using the technical devices. The interpreter can either be seated or standing in the meeting, and while the speech is being delivered, he interprets it at the same time to a very limited number of people seated or standing next to the interpreter.
The context where whispered interpreting is often used is the bilateral meeting or when a very limited number of people speak the same language. It is also often resorted to instead of consecutive interpreting in order to save time, since the speaker does not have to pause when delivering his speech, which is the case during consecutive interpreting.
Most of the time, special equipment is not needed, although sometimes headphones are used when the interpreter is far from the speaker and can’t hear him clearly. At HR Connect for translation and interpretation in Morocco, we provide Whispered interpretation service of quality, so contact us now and let us know what your requirements are.
